| "Ruggiero’s shapes put molding on and take body under the artist’s hands, with the skill of an expert smelter, until becoming shapes dug in any material, that it is aluminum, steel, plaster, ceramics, resin, even wall building or concrete block, defining skinny human figures, in their essence of rising and dying beings, in perennial contact with God. The presence-absences with anthropomorphic connotes of Ruggiero’s works are transformed in threadlike souls that carry traces and hurt of the daily living. They lose matter until fulfillment of their cycle vital, transforming themselves, at last, in a “heart”, supreme symbol of the universal love, that survives beyond the dead and the decline of the body. INTRO-reliefs, therefore, not only for their physical conformation of being worked inside, in their inner, “to the negative”, but also because they represent the soul’s intro-reliefs: all those courses long which, in thousand trickle, for thousand sour or sweet paths, slides the lymph of the human existence." Giovanna Procaccini BIO Giovanni Ruggiero was born in Fontanarosa, Italy, in September 11th 1973. In 1992 he moved to Faenza, city where he lives and works. In 2000 he took a bachelor degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. In 2002 he teaches sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. As a sculpture he realizes installations of large and small format, in which he experiences the use of several types of materials. In his sculpture he makes use of the emptiness, of the figure’s absence, of the lack of it in order to point out the human existence.
